A spacecraft factory is used to produce spacecraft designed in a design studio and saved to a blank disk.

It can only be built adjacent to a road slab, even if the spacecraft it is going to produce must spawn in space.

Spacecraft Production

Manufactured

Any spacecraft produced via running the normal manufacturing process is subsidized.

A subsidized vessel will spawn on a slab if it meets the size requirements to do so. If the spacecraft is larger than a slab, it will instead spawn in space near a space station (if applicable).

Subsidized spacecraft is owned by the empire. Any empire member can take command of it, unless it already has a captain or officer.

Purchased

A purchased spacecraft is private.

A private vessel will spawn in space regardless of spacecraft size. The avatar that purchased it will automatically be given captain berth onboard and transported to the bridge.

The captain or an officer of a private spacecraft can respawn it if it is destroyed. The spacecraft will appear in orbit with a varying amount of strutural damage. If a private spacecraft have no captain or officers on the roster at the time of its destruction it is lost.

Officer

The spacecraft factory is one of the three buildings required for an officer to spawn. The other two are a university and a airport terminal.
