The Unit Orders (Shift+F3) window is used to give orders to units under an avatar's command, in its crew or within Voice communication range.

Selection

Located at the top right of the Unit Orders window, these buttons give the ability to select various units by their role type or to deselect all currently selected units. A drop-down menu next to this set of buttons allows the player choose whether to give orders to units in their crew or to units within Voice communication range of their avatar.

Posture

These controls are used to set the posture of selected units. Primarily used to set the posture of an officer, as the officer will issue orders to its ship according to its posture.

Posture Button Icon Description Shortcut
Berserk Posture Order the selected units to initiate attacks on all enemy units, including civilians and Farm animals. Ctrl+K
Offensive Order the selected units to initiate attacks on threats. Ctrl+V
Defend Area Order the selected units to initiate attacks on threats that get close. Will not fire at wild animals when manning a turret. Ctrl+D
Defend Self Order the selected units to attack threats only if attacked. Ctrl+E
Hold Fire Order the selected units to hold their fire. Ctrl+L

Orders

These are the various, specific, orders that players can give to units under their command.

Posture Button Icon Description Shortcut
Attack Target Order the selected units to attack the target you have sighted. Ctrl+A
Go To Target Order the selected units to go to the target location you have sighted. Ctrl+T
Follow Target Order the selected units to follow the target you have sighted. Ctrl+F
Mount Target Order the selected unit to mount the target you have sighted. Ctrl+J
Come Here Order the selected unit to come to your location. Ctrl+H
Follow Me Order the selected units to follow you. Ctrl+M
Mount Me Order the selected units to mount you. Ctrl+U
Go To Room Order the selected units to go to a room by name. Ctrl+T
Get In Order the selected units to get into your vehicle or spacecraft. Ctrl+I
Get Out or Dismount Order the selected units to get out of their vehicle or spacecraft, or to dismount from their mount. Ctrl+O
Drop Rider Order the selected units to drop their riders. Ctrl+Q
Get Item or Dying Creature Order the selected units to get the item or dying creature you have sighted. Ctrl+G
Close Door Order the selected units to close the door at their location. Ctrl+C
Open Door Order the selected units to open the door at their location. Ctrl+P
Stations Order the selected units to operate the nearest control station or turret. Ctrl+N
Enter Surgery Order the selected units to enter the nearest surgery unit. Ctrl+Y
Stay Order the selected units to stay and guard their location and stop manning any stations. Ctrl+S
Garrison Order the selected units to fortify their location. They will release their berth assignment and take up station at their present location. Ctrl+R
Take Command Order the selected officers to take the con, placing that officer in command of the ship. The Officer in command carries out orders in the ship's mission. Officers must be aboard their assigned ship. Officers do not take a berth because of this command. The garrison command does that. Ctrl+Z
Release Command Order the selected officers to release the con, relieving those officers from commanding the ship. The officers keep their berths. They just stop carrying out orders in the ship's mission. Ctrl+X

Equipment

On the furthest right of the table, you will see the unit's current equipment. The equipment can be changed or unequipped here by clicking the buttons and selecting the desired option.

When the unit is onboard a spacecraft, the valid items in the spacecraft's cargo hold for the selected unit will be shown.
