Overview

The Hazeron Commonwealth was a galactic government established in the 3rd universe founded by The Toucan Empire, Tymas Confederation, Gophers, NanoTrasen, Hubart Magicians, the Federation of Border Worlds, and the Kingdom of Avalon.

It was intended to be structured similarly to the United Nations, allowing all members to band together for trade and mutual defense and present an organized offense if the situation demanded it.

When there was no need for a unified effort, members were given full sovereignty. The Commonwealth was always open to new members but no one was forced to join. The full constitution can be found at:

Politics

The Commonwealth gave its members almost complete autonomy, and refrained from intervening with the affairs of various member-states. However, diplomacy between members and other members, or between members and non-members, could be influenced by Commonwealth mediation.

Any empire was free to apply to the Commonwealth, unless two-thirds of the Commonwealth voted against their admission.

The Commonwealth could apply sanctions, declare war, and act as a unified body assuming the action they wanted to undertake passed a two-thirds majority vote.

It was made up of two parts; the Council, and the Circle.

  • The Council shall decide matters and holds the power of the Commonwealth.
  • The Circle shall act as a common information exchange between all members.

Each member empire was allowed to send one diplomatic representative to join the Circle, and have a say for it's parent empire in the matter being discussed.

If an empire went inactive, after a thirty day period they would be removed from the Commonwealth. Assuming they then became active again, they would be re-instated.

Activity

The Hazeron Commonwealth wasn't contested for so long because the two largest empires were Commonwealth members for its entire life, so resistance was deemed to be futile.

The Commonwealth did not interfere as a whole in wars that did not include members, such as the UFP-A/Romulan war. The vote of the Commonwealth was to officially not interfere with the war, and no embargo on the warring parties was enforced.

Dissolution

In response to the 04/05/2012 patch, after heavy protest over one of the changes, the Commonwealth disbanded in an act of protest, bringing an end to the galactic government.

Impact on the galaxy

The Hazeron Commonwealth may have not intervened in outside affairs too much, but it had at the time of writing been the longest-living and most successful of such large alliances. Some of the ideals and ideas have lived on in what some might say is the spiritual successor of the Commonwealth, The United Empires.
