The first Universe was a very early publicly playable version of Shores of Hazeron. It ran from March 03, 2009 to June 18, 2010. Many players did not experience this universe, and as such, the top empires on the final standings did not have as high of a citizen/city count as later Universe winners. As the top empire on the standings was Zlaad, the Universe was called the "Rise of Zlaad" by Haxus. As seen in the standings below, Zlaad was victorious with 70672 total citizens, and 187 cities across 46 systems.
