Construction Speedup

The orchard is an alternative to farms, but with a lot fewer options. The primary use of orchards is log production where there is no forests. Apart from that, orchards are mostly unused since farms can produce everything the orchard can.

Orchards are one of the five buildings citizens can live in, the other four building types are Houses, Farms, Apartments, and Condominiums,.

Homes

Each orchard makes one job plus one per level and furthermore each level provides space for 2 citizens to live. This means a 2 level Orchard supplies 4 citizens, or 3 productive citizens with one citizen as a janitor, 2 usually working the orchard (productive) and one left for other jobs.

If you build your orchard to its max height, you can refer to this table to see how many citizens you will get.

Building Material Max Levels Homes Productive Citizens
Log 1 2 1 (0)
Lumber 2 4 3 (1)
Stone 2 4 3 (1)
Metal 2 4 3 (1)
Magmium 2 4 3 (1)
Vulcium 2 4 3 (1)

Environment or Irrigation

Each item produced by orchards have the option of using resources from the environment or artificial resources. Resources from the environment typically result in slower output, and sometimes lower quality. Water for irrigation may be used on colonies where natural resources are scarce or non-present.
