2023-02-09 Workshop Crash

#1
Several people reported a crash when the current list of items in the Steam Workshop was requested from the building exchange.

Debug traces showed some insanity going on when getting that listing, in particular when requesting the preview images for the items, which have to be requested and downloaded separately.

I reworked some of the code involved.

Please give it another try.

Sorry for the slow response on this. I lost a day this week when we had to go out of town for the day.

I tested this on Windows 10. It did not crash.

Since the update, I'm now getting a crash to desktop from the main menu whenever I hit "Play" or "Design."
The other buttons on the menu seem to work ("Fullscreen", "About" and "Settings.")

I'm running version 7b2 on windows 10.

Clarification edit: the designer crashes after choosing an avatar and hitting "Enter Designer."

Same here. Hitting play crashes the game; If I delete my save files I'm able to get as far as choosing my name/handedness but it crashes on proceeding to edit DNA.

I am also getting the same issue. Nothing I have tried seem to fix it so far.

Same here.
Whenever the game tries to render anything I get a crash.
Ther is an nvidia driver update. trying that, but don't really expect that to help.

Edit: still crashes after driver update
I amj also running windows 10, version 22H2

The crash is fixed. An update was posted.

This seemed to be caused by some debug code that was created to find the previous crash. For the life of me I could not see why it was causing a crash. I removed it and my Windows machine stopped crashing. The Linux build never crashed because of either bug, all the more perplexing.

When starting a new universe I find that I am still unable to construct any buildings due to no blueprints existing. I've tried subscribing to a few basic ones on the workshop to no avail. the exchange in-game does list all the blueprints currently provided by haxus.

Interesting. I'll get right on it.

Construction window bug is fixed. It lists the blueprints in the exchange now.

The bug was introduced when changing the architect id to a steam account id. The blueprints were there; they just weren't being listed.
