Fundamental landmine issues in this game

#1
I've been playing this game for awhile, and have noted several issues that will be issues if this game ever became popular:

  • Use of textures from real world objects. I've seen a Coleman lantern in this game,  and other objects that look scans from real branded products. This opens the game to copyright and trademark lawsuits. I've mentioned this to the game dev before. The lantern model could be redone at least to look like style miner's lamp, which works both for a design for an electric, oil, or lamp, and remove any association with coleman. All the carried item textures need to be revisited, and remove any possible references to real-world brands.
  • Casinos. Any reference gambling in games these days is widely attacked. Change this to something like "arcade" or something would be less objectionable. Gambling references in games also increase it's rating level.
  • References to a god and churches. Christianity isn't the most popular religion on the planet, besides, who said space faring races would believe in a god, or even gods? In the Star Wars universe, they believe in a force, not a god.  Rename this to "spiritual center" and it'll be more universal, and allow for better role playing. Where "god" is referenced, a quick fix would be to replace the word "god" with "stars", especially such as for the ship naming dialogues.
  • Sex. ahem. We all know this was a weird design choice That's why Hazeron Starship is dropping it.  Spore had this same issue too which you can see in the pre-release footage. They still left the concept of mating in place, but instead of the sex animation, just showed it with a dance, and a puff of smoke, and poof there is an egg.
This is is the product of a very small team, or a single person, directing the game with a limited set of world and cultural experience to draw from -- which is why modern companies make a point to hire from diverse backgrounds.  Other than that, it is an amazing technical feat to squeeze so much into a single game.

Sex games make more money on steam right now than you ever will in your life, even the immensely degenerate ones.
Banning a casino in a videogame that doesn't actually facilitate any form of gambling, its simply an inert structure is the stupidest shit formulated in my lifetime.
Renaming the church to the "spiritual center" is unfortunately one of the least militant-fedora-reddit-atheist things i've heard in my lifetime but its definitely got me questioning your mentality.
oh and to poke back at the "companies hire from diverse backgrounds" companies hire from diverse backgrounds more and more because amazon and walmart have done multi million dollar studies showing that increased diversity in the workplace destroys cohesion of potential workers unions and allows them an excuse for cheap outsourced labor hence why "diverse backgrounds" doesn't mean Cletus the engineer from texas and John Smith the IT analyst from chicago in a country hosting several hundred million people, it means Prakesh Ramasul (5$/hr wages, new delhi) and Pooja Mohammed (also 5$/hr from New Delhi)

You have bad ideas. and quite frankly haxus should put the SS logo back on the metal helmet just to chafe you.

it would be nice if morale building types were a little more generic, so we can RP it as whatever fits our empire's narrative.
I don't know if "church" specifically refer to Christianity, it has never occurred to me at least. But some players may not want any religious hints in they space alien society for RP reasons.
I don't think "casino" is an issue either, since there is no gambling in the game unless you consider the small poker mini-game. But again some players may not want their space alien society to have gambling, so a more generic building name would be nice.

Some of the NPC lines do refer weird things. I don't know all the NPC lines, but i wouldn't be surprised if there is one or two that reference god or even politics. Some lines just feel weird though, such as the villager mentioning horses when the world has no animal resembling a horse.

This has been discussed a lot, and I even made a thread about it a while back.

I agree that some of the things mentioned are a little over the top.
But you don't have to go that far, please keep it civil.
