If so then I don't think you would have been able to select the 4th as an impact date, since you can only set it to a time that is 7 days ±12 hours from that date and time. Maybe you attempted to select the 4th and it unknowingly snapped back to the 2nd.
The only way to really confirm when the asteroid is really gonna hit is by talking with the stargazer. Since the observatory still doesn't give any information untill the T-8 hours.
This is not to say that the asteroids haven't been completely weird during the server instability.
