I don't know if I'm missing something or if its a bug.
I can't find the research for extracting magmex in either the treatment facility or the university. When I am constructing the building, the process shows up in the list, but not in the completed building.

Seems to also be the case for smelting vulcanite.

The "Smelting Vulcium" patent is most likely hidden until you have researched the "Smelting Magmium" patent.

As for the "Extracting Magmex" patent, it might have the same issue as the "Refine Cryozine" patent, where in the patent requires the building to be in the correct environment to appear in the list.
Try building a Treatment Plant at the edge of the lava, then see if the "Extracting Magmex" patent appears.

All that said, it is indeed confusing that patents requiring environmental factors are hidden. But I am not sure how to have the patents listed but visibly show that it can't be researched in that environment.
A tech-tree view as have been discussed in the past might make it simpler to understand and visually show that some patents are hidden and behind what.
