Arcadian armed forces required a vertical takeoff dropship capable of both combat insertion and general utility use. Small size was key to the contract as the vehicle needed to service a variety of ship and station landing bays. The CV-100 is powered by four General Starworks G-11 Hyperian engines. Two of the power plants are arranged in a VTOL configuration and afford the Draco considerable maneuverability. The remaining two engines are optimized for interstellar transit. The Draco was designed for ease of field repairs and has access to all critical components from within the pressurized cabin allowing for repairs in flight if necessary. For rapid unloading of troops and cargo the Draco is uniquely equipped with two large sliding doors and a rear ramp. Perhaps surprising for a craft of its size the Draco can also carry one Standard Shipping Container (SSC-2) in an external loading crane. Nearly all Arcadian military installations have several Draco’s on hand for general utility purposes and personnel transfer. Notably the Stormbreaker DDG-211 routinely carries at least one of these vessels in it’s internal dock for underway replenishment and search and rescue purposes. During planetary invasion operations it is not uncommon to see several light carriers filled to capacity with Draco utility variants and gunship models.
